Ever get an hour in after lunch and feel like it’s time to sleep? Learn more about the 3 pm slump in this episode!
The 3 pm slump is a common symptom for a lot of people. You just have to see the queues forming at your local coffee spot to see how many people are silently going through the same thing.
We’ve all been there. Lunch is over, the afternoon workload is looming, and the clouds in your brain are starting to form. Your brain always gets foggy around this time of day, and just as you feel it on the horizon, the bloating starts. Within a few moments, your eyelids are heavy, and you’re ready for sleep. It must be 3 pm.
In this Free and Inspired radio episode, Philip reveals what’s causing the 3 pm slump and how to beat it with some simple changes.
The types of foods you choose to eat at lunch play a more prominent role than you think
“…but what is new is that your lunch and a diet high in sugar is now associated with not just brain fog or cognitive impairment but negative neuroplasticity, anxiety, depression and addiction.”
If you are an adult, none of this is a surprise.
What might be a surprise is just how much we can predict how the microbiome will change based on the foods you consume.
For example, either positive or negative, dietary alterations can cause significant, temporary microbial shifts within just 24 hours.
And we cover this in a deeper way in the episode.
Finally, Philip goes through his solutions for beating the 3 pm slump. The first includes the supplement that almost always takes away the need for a nap after you first meeting after lunch. So stay tuned until the end for that one.
Enjoy!
